Teaming up to care for our animals

Farmers work collaboratively with nutritionists, animal behavior specialists and other experts who bring knowledge and vital services to the farm. These professionals advise on best farming practices for animal health, including nutrition, antibiotic use, housing considerations and euthanasia. Farmers understand that healthy pigs produce wholesome, safe pork, so there is a natural incentive for farmers to embrace the recommendations of these experts. Anything less would jeopardize animal health, productivity and farm income.

“It’s important for us to be good stewards because living on a farm is a blessing and a privilege, and with that comes responsibility. We feel that responsibility, and we take it seriously.”

People decided to become pig farmers for many reasons; that range from family tradition, to opportunities, to expanding their family farms.
